About Team DEVO

Team DEVO Mission Statement

To promote mountain biking and racing to children and young adults by demonstrating that competition is fun and exciting, and winning isn't everything.
Are we not racers? We are DEVO.

The future of American competitive success in mountain bike racing can be found in our nation's junior cyclists. DEVO is committed to ensuring that these riders are respected, promoted and given every opportunity to improve and reach their goals.

DEVO is an internationally recognized cycling team that develops young competitive cyclists in the disciplines of mountain bike, road and cyclocross. For ten years, DEVO has been to junior cycling what Little League is to baseball. We continually search the U.S. for talented cyclists ages 13-22 and read through dozens of resumes to find quality athletes with strong scholastic backgrounds to invite into the program. DEVO provides a nurturing team environment and coaching support to help these competitors succeed in reaching their goals and realizing their athletic potential.

DEVO is a success story. The program has produced in five years, three Junior World Champions, two in mountain bike and one in cyclocross and in its lifetime the Team has won over a dozen National Championship cycling titles. For 2007, DEVO will continue focusing on the National Off Road Bicycling Association (NORBA) Championship Series events held at half-a-dozen venues around the U.S., Road National series events, and one UCI World Cup race.

DEVO has two teams:

  • Junior Men and Women (15-18 years)
DEVO is a development team organized to promote junior cyclists by competing in the NORBA Championship Series Races and the World Cup Cross Country Events.

Four to eight riders will travel and compete in all NORBA national championship race events. In addition, riders will travel and compete in some World Cup events, time and budget permitting.

  • Under 23 (U23) Men and Women (19-22 years)
The U23 age category is the hot bed for young, developing professional riders. For DEVO riders, it means the opportunity for continued growth at the professional level for junior athletes who have turned 19 years and have the talent, dedication and desire to continue racing. DEVO is committed to supporting these riders as they prove their competitiveness against big name, professional factory riders.

Two to four riders will travel and compete in all NORBA national championship race events. In addition, riders will travel and compete in some World Cup events, time and budget permitting.

For companies whose target markets include the teenage and young adult market segments, DEVO can be a great vehicle for increasing product and/or brand awareness among cyclists and active life style adults.

Many of DEVO’s current product and financial sponsors have been supporting the Team for years; some since 1994. Companies like RockShox, Inc. GIANT Bikes, SRAM, Giro Helmets, Maxxis Tires and Oakley Eyewear to name a few, continue to be enthusiastic about working with DEVO. Together, we’re working to ensure that American junior and young professional cyclists are given the support they need to succeed here at home and in International competitions.

Great athletes don’t always come with huge bankrolls, and for many juniors the opportunity DEVO provides, to travel and compete like a professional rider, is beyond anything they could have imagined, and in most cases, their families could have afforded.

Please consider joining DEVO as a sponsor in support of their efforts.

Thank you for your continued support.
